The Vietnamese American Medical Association (VAMA) is offering seven scholarships for 2015. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the VAMA Scholarship Program. NOTE: Scholarship deadline has been extended to June 1, 2015.
The Vietnamese American Medical Association offers several scholarships to qualified US residents who are enrolled in an accredited US medical school. The scholarship is an encouragement to help those who are pursuing a career in medicine. Listed below are scholarship opportunities being offered by VAMA.
The Executive Committee of the Vietnamese American Medical Association (VAMA) has established the Scholarship Program with the following objectives:
- To provide financial assistance to needy medical students.
- To foster medical students’ interest in serving the Vietnamese American community.
- To promote scholastic achievement.
- To encourage participation and leadership in the Association.
This scholarship is intended to encourage medical students and residents to learn about health care in developing countries. The funds will support one recipient per year to travel to and complete a project in a developing country.There is no preference with regards to location as long as the country visited is an underdeveloped country.
Any currently enrolled student in an accredited US medical school or a resident in an accredited residency, who is in good standing, may apply. The accepted project must be conducted as part of the elective curriculum of the medical school or residency. The project must be completed prior to medical school graduation or the end of the residency. If the project is not completed by the deadline, the fund must be returned to the Vietnamese American Medical Association (VAMA) to be used for future scholarships.
The scholarship is intended to encourage medical students and residents to learn about health care in developing countries. If you apply for the Tung Van Dinh, MD Memorial Travel Scholarship, you will automatically be considered for the new VAMA Travel Scholarship (amount of $2500).
